we had a room at the front of the hotel on the second floor. it was MASSIVE. huge room with three double beds which were comfy and clean. bathroom is just what you’d expect; toilet, sink, shower. it was clean and toiletries provided. reception staff are lovely but leave you be. any questions they are more than happy to help, but generally staff leave you alone and don’t bother you. you will hear noise from outside. 100%. we stayed tuesday and wednesday night which i assume aren’t hugely busy clubbing nights so noise may be worse at weekends im not sure. but it never woke me up, i never heard music or banging, just people outside for a smoke talking to each other, but it didnt wake me. i…

Guest reviews
The Gate Hotel averages 3.3 out of 5 across 586 reviews. A selection, quoted as written:
Myself and my partner checked in here for a one night stay. The room that we booked through booking.com was absolutely nothing like what we were checked into - The wall above the TV had black mold on it with damp spots on the ceiling, the coffee cups were filthy, the bed was broken already and the toilet had not been cleaned. We went back to reception to let her know and ask if there was another room we could move to. She followed us back to the room to see what we had complained about and agreed that it was not up to standard but told us there was nothing she could do to swap rooms as they were fully booked (this was a complete lie as there were 2 rooms still available on booking.com).…
My partner and I stayed here for a couple of nights. The beginning of the stay was alright, but overnight the place became very noisy. There was loud music, clear sounds of sexual activity. Additionally, there was security at the door, essentially because the area is relatively dimly lit at night, and there are a lot of people who could potentially be dangerous if triggered. It's fine for a certain purpose, but in reality this is not a place to stay if you're looking for a bit of luxury, or a place with an ambience that you can feel comfortable getting to know someone in.
